Altrusa International, Arroyo Grande

Womenade has partnered with Altrusa International of Arroyo Grande to purchase beds for a mother and her 4 children who have been sleeping on the floor in their small home.  Special thanks to Cici Wynn, Altrusa President, and her husband, Alex; they purchased, delivered, and assembled the beds.

Miner's Hardware

Paul Filice and Laurel Cadena at Miner's Hardware donated a car seat that allowed a baby to be reunited with his biological father.  Thank you!

Diaper Drive

Members of The Central Coast Women's League held a diaper drive at their May meeting.  Jan Kelly delivered the bounty of diapers to San Luis Obispo Womenade where they will be distributed via public health nurses to families throughout the county.  Special thanks to Lyn Bonzi and Sally Hillis.

Rotary Club of Pismo Beach-Five Cities

San Luis Obipso County Womenade was invited to share with the Rotary Club of Pismo Beach-Five Cities.  Special thanks to President Ashlea Boyer, Cliff Naylor, and Steve Curry for the opportunity to present what Womenade is doing in our community.

Laguna Backpack Program

As the school year winds down, its time to shout special appreciation to Arlene Yost and her backpack team of Donna Jeberjahn, Vanessa Fujimoto, Michele Hall, Francine Johnston, and Nan Tarpinian.   With the amazing support of Laguna Middle School counselor, Megan Healy, these volunteers have provided weekend food for 5 students and their families.  Thanks for all your shopping, organizing, and caring!

Donation from Sierra Vista Staff

Womenade is grateful for a $500 donation from the staff of Sierra Vista Hospital in San Luis Obispo.  All funds will be used to help our fellow community members in need.

Thank you for serving local foster and high-needs children and teens in such a creative way.

Mama Bear Project for Womenade

Thanks to the advocacy of Lois Crotser, the Mama Bear project this year will be blanket throws for Womenade clients! These throws, that will be ready in December, will be made of 12"x12" squares knitted together with a heart pattern or plain. They will make colorful, warm additions to our donations to referred children and adults.

This amazing group of knitters meets Fridays at 11:00 at Yarns at the Adobe, on Chorro Street across from the Mission. Anne Gough, owner of the yarn shop, generously donates her time, talents, and a yarn stash. Knitters donate yarns, as well. You are welcome to join them as a knitter or crocheter, or just stop by to visit and encourage while enjoying the Adobe's peaceful garden.

FETZER Vineyards

Gratitude goes out from Womenade to Fetzer Vineyards and its winemaker, Ken Greene, for a $500 donation that will support efforts to meet essential needs in our county. Thanks, also, to Tess Mathews for letting this local business know about Womenade!

Women's Council of Realtors

Womenade would like to express appreciation to the local chapter of The Women's Council of Realtors. Thursday, December 10th, Marylou Gooden accepted their donation of $500 to help us help others in our county.

Since my plea last week, so many of you have donated to help fund the requests that are pouring in. These unsettled financial times have caught many local families in situations they can't handle alone.
