April 2004: Payment to Sierra Vista Hospital for a 4-year-old with Meningitis. The family is faced with overwhelming local care costs as well as costs from Children’s Hospital. Referral: Elaine Stewart ($200)
May 2004: Rent for a family with two children. The husband got a job which caused the family to lose assistance monies suddenly. His case worker and Corina from Prado have developed a savings plan with the family for the future; we are helping them through this month before his paychecks begin. September 2004: Orthodontia gear that will last 3 years for a 10-year-old girl. Parents are making payments for over half the cost. Referral: Janet at CHDP ($300)

December 2004: Partial payment for a car for a handicapped mother. After being homeless and recently moving into housing, she lives on $300 a month; her special needs child is often absent because she can’t get her to school. Because of this donation, the mom now feels part of the school community and came to the class holiday party! Referral: Karen King, nurse, Lucia Mar School District ($150)
December 2004: Partial payment for a washing machine for a woman whose 50-year-old husband has Parkinson’s and requires round the clock care and whose mother is in a coma. Delivery and Referral: Julie Jones, counselor, Laguna Middle School ($200)
December 2004: Christmas gift help for an unemployed grandmother raising a 7th grader and a two-year-old. She is new to our area and unable to provide presents and clothes for them this season. Referral: Julie Jones, counselor, Laguna Middle School ($70)
December 2004: New outfit for a seventh grade girl who doesn’t want to go to school. She and her teen-age sister are being raised by their 70-year-old grandma. Referral: Julie Jones, counselor, Laguna Middle ($25)
